Tiny Things (2022)

These digital collages were made using scans of my son’s drawings, created and left behind in my grad school studio, along with photographs of tiny natural worlds: a spider in its web, rosebuds starting to bloom, bees about their work, the texture of bark and petals. This series allowed me to collaborate with my son by combining his drawing with my photography, and it allowed me to investigate the idea of smallness by juxtaposing the work of his tiny hands with the observed world around me. As I collaged the images together, I broke up my photographs using halftone pixelations, allowing them to be composed of “tiny things” as well.
